Ok spring is coming and this year i'm thinking about getting a soft top, or just taking to top off for a while. My question is when putting it back on is the weather striping still good, should i get new stuff now cuz its an 89, where do i get it . Also is it a myth or fact that the tops leak when there put back on and if so how have people stoped the leaks. Also just any other information realated to this that you feel in need to hear. Thanks guys.
Just store the top so that the weatherstripping doesent get hurt. I have my top off now and rain is comin so I have to put it back on, never had any leaks.
i have taken my top off many a time with no problems. the only problem i had was finding a damn tamper proof torx bit to take the bolts off. but i dont think you will have the same bolts on yours. the only time i had a real problem was when i got caught in a flash rain storm and i was nowhere near my top :-(. that was no fun

make sure you keep the weatherstripping in good shape, and make sure it lines up and doesnt bunch up or anything like that when putting the top back on
i really havent run into anyone that head leak problems with a bronco, so i think if ur cautious and do it right, u wont ever have a problem
My top is coming off for the first time this spring.
The truck is mostly a weekend ride, and I don't like letting it sit outside for days on end with no top, so I finally got where I can get it in the garage.
I went from a Jeep to the Bronco and I can't wait to zoom around town with no top again.
Before you ask your neighbor to give you a hand pulling off your top, consider the idiot factor with belt buckles. My good neighbor did a lot of paint damage to mine last year. I just about crapped myself when I saw it. He still has no idea.
According to Haines, the top is 120 lbs. Remember, they're fiberglass. I was surprised it's not more, b/c of the windows.?? Anyway, it does reccommend that you have someone help you, it has an awkward weight distribution. If thats why you asked Big Ol Truck.

Yup, that's why. My wife always helped with the hard top on my Wrangler. I was just wondering if she'd be able to help with this one, too. We'll find out soon enough.
I think it may be too heavy for a woman to lift. I know mine couldn't do it. It's kind of awkward having to hold it up and out, away from you. Have a buddy around the first time to take over for her if she can't handle it.
