Death Wobble!!!

Hi, im from the diesel forum and am having a problem with the front end of my truck. whenever i hit a bump doing about 40 mph. the whole front end of my truck starts shakin so violently that i need to pull over and completly stop for it to go away. now i have replaced my shocks, gear box, tie rods, linkage, tie rod ends, king pins, and tires. i have a '89 F-350 with 3" body lift and had 35", then 36", now a stock balanced set of 235's. i am completely out of options, any help would be great. thanks

Didn't mention, so I have to ask, did you check wheel bearings and spring bushings? Other thing you can do is have someone turn the wheels gently while you go under and see if you can find movement were it shouldn't be. Also, if you have the trac-bar (mounted to frame on one end and the axle on the other) that keeps the axle "in-line" with the frame, this could also be a problem, only on 4x's though.

Yes the bushings are ok and somone else mentioned that bar to me, and i checked it and the bushings were worn, do you think this could have the affect on it, i mean there is only a little bit of play in those bushings but the shaking is so violent it istn funny, thanks for the help.

Once you have checked or replaced all worn or bent parts from the steering gearbox on through the spindle bearings put the truck on the rack and have it checked for alignment. See if the technician can get reproducible caster camber and toe-in settings. The alignment settings should not change at all when the steering wheel is turned through it's full range of travel and returned to the original position. If they do you still have a defective part. If you can find no problem with the entire system then check the caster and camber settings. Some lift kits use a modified mounting plate between the spring and axle to re-set the caster angle for larger tires. The new caster angle is not always a good choice. Bad camber angle indicates a bent spindle or axle flange.
