351 closed chamber head mod
Does anyone know what the effects, positive or negative, would be if one was to polish the combustion chamber of the 351 C 4v head? Is it suppose to increase power? What about increasing the potential for cracking? Possible detonation problems?
I would like to know if it is worth doing.

Polishing the combustion chamber is designed to reduce detonation by removing the sharp edges in the comb chamber which tend to heat up and ignite the A/F mixture before the spark plug does. It also adds power because it facilitates flow in & out of the cylinder through the valves. I can't see how it would possibly increase the potential for cracking. You're not removing enough material.
