Pull it out check it for cracks and check the boot for a seperated contact. Replace them if they look bad.

Well I pulled the plug out and it was cracked. I put one of the old plugs in and it stopped sparking, but it still runs just as roughly.

VICTORY!

Turns out when I was checking wires and found that cracked plug last night, I left the wires crossed when I was checking them! Now the thing runs like a champ with more power than ever! Thank you guys very much for all your help. I would be totally lost without it. Now to just get rid of this exhaust leak

Great! Glad its all behind you now. As you have seen, its the small stuff that can be the biggest PITA.

The place where the headers bolt on is to the heads, right? Maybe that sheared off bolt will give me an excuse to upgrade those.

so over all how was the install aside form the broken bolt and spark plug problem? I have a set of bassani headers that should be here today. I'm going to wait until its a little warmer out to try to install them. But if you have any tips or anything special you did to install them I would like to hear about it.Thanks

The headers were perfect. If I would've had any problems with the headers themselves this project may never have been completed.

Where is the bolt located that is giving you a fit? I hate to even say the "H" word but from what I have read and my little amount of knowledge I would think that you are looking at removal of the head. AGAIN I am not positive of this. I am planning to install headers in the near future, I have never done it, I am just waiting to get my courgage up. I missed the year Bronco you are working on. What year is it? You only sheared one bolt as well?

DUH! I replied before I read the whole string. Congrats on your new headers...If I could fine a muffler shop to install the headers for a $100.00 I would pay em $300.00. Nobody I know of here in NE NC will touch em. They all say it would become a head job and run like the wind....PS Did you get the bolt extracted? What type of EZ out were you using? The square kind or the round kind. I just bought a set of round ones. I was told they are stronger....Anyways Congrats!

I never did get the EZ out extracted. I am debating whether it is worth worrying about or just saving up for heads since I want them anyways. It was one of the round ones I guess...shaped like a fat drill bit.

Hey Wake aside from the broken bolt how hard were the other bolts on the manifold? Did you use a rust penetrant? All this talk is inspiring me to do the same now....Thanks....

I didn't use any kind of penetrant. They were all hard enough to need a long breaker bar to turn them almost the whole way out.

What year is your beast? Overall on a scale of 1-10 how much of a PITA was the job?
