In some write ups I have seen the dip stick zip-tied to another bracket to keep it in place. Possibly the coil?

This is what my setup looks like:

I didnt check to see if its two nults welded together, or what it is (I didnt install them, and its damn cold out tonight. You wont catch me outside any longer than I have to be). You might be able to decipher exactly what it is.

I am about 5 minutes from sending these stupid things back. I have been working now for 11 hours and I haven't got the headers all the way on yet. The 2nd to back bolt on the passenger side on the header will NOT screw in. The worst part is that particular bolt is completely concealed by the header so I can only see it from the very top. I also can't fit a torque wrench on half of the bolts. How the heck am I supposed to torque them down? I know I am slightly mechanically challenged, but I have had 4 people try this bolt with no luck. Any ideas? Thanks.

Well, found the problem. Apparently not all of the manifold bolt decided to come off with the rest so I still have part of the bolt stuck in. I guess I get to drive the Bronco with an exhaust leak until this weekend when I have time drill the thing out. Such is life.

Wake,
Did you check the link I gave you above on installing headers, and did it help at all?

Crazyromi,
Yes, I did check that link and it helped very much. I appreciate it. Now I am just down to dealing with the fact that all this hardware has been in the Florida ocean spray for 11 years and are not exaclty in the best shape. Thanks for all your suggestions and wish me luck with getting this bolt out.

Good luck getting those bolts out. I am also no mechanical expert, but I would imagine drilling into your engine is a bad thing. This idea could be completely retarded as it is St. Patty's day and I have had a couple. Would it be feasable to cut the new bolts down to where they would fit? For example, if there was an 1/8 inch extra, couldn't you just cut an 1/8 off the end of the bolt and have it fit right?

The problem is the bolt sheared off right at the surface of the block, so you can't even get another bolt started. I am using an Easy Out and trying to drill through the bolt to remove it.

Well, I just snapped the tip of the Easy Out off in the block so now I have the end of a bolt AND the end of an Easy Out in there Anyone know a good way to get them extracted?

It is outside of the tubes. Make any headway on the bolt/ez-out nightmare?

Just as an update to the saga that is my header install:

After determining the only way to remove the ez out is to remove the head and have a machine shop plasma cut it out, I decided just to install the header with the remaining bolt and hook it all up. After getting everything hooked back up, I started it up. It is running like crap, idling very rough, and backfiring a lot. I have also developed an annoying squeel overnight.

Now, on to the bad stuff. When I hopped in and through it in to reverse so I could go "feel the immediate difference" it just sat there and backfired constantly, acting like it was going to die. Give it gas, nothing except more backfiring. That $100 install at the exhaust shop is sounding like paradise right now.

Do you have the plug wires on the right fireing order?
302 (1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8)
351 and 302 HO (1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8)

I have installed headers before, and never again. I refused to install the bassanis. I know how to turn a wrench, but headers test my patience past its breaking point. It certainly sounds like you messed up the firing order. Its relatively simple to do (even when you mark them....not that I would know ). Keep us abreast of the situation.

I don't know how I could have messed them up, as it seems like there is only one way the plug wires could fit on the plugs. Does someone have a schematic that shows how the sequence should go? Thanks, guys.
