DRW to SRW

I have been toying with the idea of converting my DRW truck over to SRW. I don't really need the DRWs at the present moment. I don't really pull or haul anything heavy. Besides, I figure the conversion would save me some $$$$ after the initial cost of changing over. Anywho, I know I remember one of the "regular" posters here that had made the same conversion. Any comments or suggestions from that person, or anyone else, will be greatly appreciated!

Here's is my pro/con list so far:

PRO: Fewer tyres to buy, better fuel mileage, better manuverability after removal of outboard dually fenders, easier to rotate tyres in the correct manner....

CONS: Truck looks better to me WITH the DRWs, initial cost of buying new rims, would have to lose my cool (and USEFUL) running boards....

There's probably some pros AND cons that I am overlooking. Thanks again for your opinions.........

Search the threads. Somebody here in the last week was wanting to convert SRW to DRW. Why don't you guys save all the trouble and just trade?

I don't really want to trade. I LOVE my truck. Actually, I like it the way it is, but it really isn't feasible for me to drive such a truck, and definitely not cost effective. The best thing is that I possess the title to the truck and have no payment and I kinda want to keep it that way. However, I don't haul anything, nor do I tow anything. I wound up with the truck in a sweet deal that I couldn't pass up, so I guess I am really ahead financially. It does cost a lot of money to operate this rig, though. 90% of the time, there is no one esle but me riding in it. Right now, I am unemployed, so the truck's daily duty currently is transporting my son to school. Therefore, my idea is to possibly convert the truck to save myself some money in the long run. IF I did it, I would probaby keep all the dually parts, just in case I wanted to change it back at a later date, say like if I bought a travel trailer, or something. I was hoping to get comments or suggestions from someone who may have actually done the same conversion on aspects of the change that I may have not thought of. Is there anything that I would have to buy other than the SRW wheels/tires? I realize that there would be some cost involved with the removal of the dually fenders. The only other thing I can think of right off the top of my head is the removal of the dually rim spacers/extentions. Is there anything else that I would have to change? I guess the actual bottom line is what I am after here. Initial changeover cost vs. savings realized AFTER the change, i.e. better fuel mileage, et al. Any advice or ideas will be greatly appreciated.........
