I've got an 88 F150 4x4 302 FI. My question is, After putting the truck in gear and taking off, the first 2 gears shift really great, but D and OD seem to shift way too soon. I might only be doing about 30 or so, and it shifts into OD and really has no power. Is this a transmission problem, or is there some sort of sensor that might be bad, allowing the 2 drive gears to engage too soon??
I don't believe they had an E4OD (computer controled, on/off switch on the end of gear shift lever), in 88',
I believe it was an AOD.
I did own a 89' E-350 diesel that was an E4OD, and it had the on/off switch on the dash.
For some reason, every time I ask a ? about my E4OD, I get a responce refering to an AOD, I'm not an expert on tranny's but I'm pretty sure there is a difference. What I'm not sure about is what year they came into play, and in what vehicle order.
Good Luck
I have no push button. I have 1,2,D and OD. Is this an E4OD or an AOD? I'm pretty sure the transmission sticker on the visor show it as an E4OD. Also, I was able to get a look at the top of the tranny while changing my plugs today, and I niticed the tranny has fins on the top. Anybody got an idea which one I have??
.
Just read that an E4OD has 20 bolts on the pan.
