I want to put brighter headlamps on my 2000 Expy. should i go with the blue bulbs, or is there something better? and what about the bulbs inside the factory driving lights inside the front bottom of the bumper? can I also get brighter bulbs for those? any info would help....
I have the Sylvania Xenarc headlights. They are a true HID light. Down side is they are expensive. They are simply the best light I have come across. There is the other option of the Sylvania Silverstars, of which I have in my auxillary lights (some call them fog lights). These are advertised as a whiter brighter light. I'm pleased with both products. Silverstars will run you about $20. per bulb, while the Xenarcs will run you around $400. Check around for the best prices. Hope this helps.
I agree with Rickz96,,,the Xenarc's are sweet if you got the cash to lay out. Otherwise, the next best thing are the Sylvania Silverstar bulbs (I have them and love them). I have a 1999 and it used the 9007 headlight bulbs and the 9005 bulbs for the fogs. There is a slight modification to get the 9005's to fit. You need to take the fog bulb out, remove the 2 screws holding the bulb mounting plate(plastic). Line up the new buld with the mounting plate and you will see there is a SMALL area on the mounting plate that needs to be filed, dremeled or rotozipped, etc... Then replace the plate with the 2 screws and attach the new bulb. The fog mod took me all of about 15 minutes total.
Did you have to get anything additional when you bought the Xenarcs? Like any new wiring kits or something? Or did they just pop in place of the old ones? What is the lifespan on the Xenarcs?
No additional wiring is needed other than what you get in the kit. The kit comes with everything you need. They claim 10X the life of a regular halogen. Check it out here. http://www.sylvania.com/xenarc/x2010.htm Buy them, you won't regret it!! BigMan69 is right about the small mod for the fogs. I thought I was the only one who had to do that so I didn't even mention it.
Human physiology doesn't allow maximum acuity of vision in the blue wavelengths. For safety and effectiveness use white or yellow white. Ideally, sunlight simulation with all wavelengths.
