Hey all, I have a 89 Bronco with the 5.0 EFI system. Ive done a complete tune up from ign module to coil, and wires and plugs, cap and rotor. still getting a low idle of 550 rpms.
I also get a surge every now and then. If its warmed up and I drive with the ac on it will stall every time, when I come to a stop it also does it with the ac off just not as frequent. I did a code test , no light on mind you and it did flash a code 67. havent been able to find that code any where. engine seems a little low on power to me but ill tell ya the last ford I owned was back in 79 and it was a 75 gran torino. This ecm system is driving me nuts. I have to admit Ive been a chevy owner most of my life and fords just baffle me.
if you want to increase your idle, you need to use a small Allen wrench (not sure of the exact size) and mess with the screw on your throttle body that sets the idle.
he he he... well.. that's probably true. On the other hand, my screw had wiggled its way loose to the point that when I had my AC blowing on HI and would come to a stop, my truck would stall. I took it over to my buddies house (his dad is the shop foreman at a chevy dealership in town.... and he messed with the screw a bit.... haven't had a problem since)... so... just a suggestion that may or may not help, but worked for me
