Question Strange sound comming from engine

Whenever I start and rev my engine before its warmed up I hear this metallic ticking sound, it sounds like the hum of a microwave and the click of a light switch being flicked up and down rapidly (if you can imagine such a combination of both sounds). Its most noticeable when accelerating to get on the freeway. Its not too loud but its easy to hear. It goes away as the engine warms up but Im curious if theres anything wrong with it, or if this is normal.

Its a 03' with the 4.6L engine.

sounds like it may be a pump or somthin...I have a similar sound minus the "light switch" thing. I am gonna just wait until it gets more pronounced, and hopefully i can find it.

Sounds alot like your fuel injectors. This particular engine has noisy injectors. If you want to be sure, get a mechanics stethiscope.

I would check the exhaust manifold bolts for breakage. An exhaust leak can sound that way too. Alot of times, it will quieten down after the exhaust heats up and expands a little bit.
