Ok guys I'm gonna have the local Diesell establishment do a tune up on my 96 PSD. I've got about $900 peso's to spend to get more power. What's quick easy and affordable without having to over spend here
if yer gonna spend the money on jectors, give swamp donkey a call, but for 900 bones, you will spend it getting everything you need to make the truck ready for injectors, and still need tranny work.
if he has a '99 or newer tranny work really should not be neccessary but will not hurt. The more mods, yes tranny work should come first. Take it to a good trans place and tell them what you would like the engine to put out and they will get the trans up to par before your engine. Trust me, I burnt mine out because I was more worried about the engine and did not give much consideration to the trans.
Had a new beefed up tranny installed last August so I dont think that'll be a problem. Dont need a lot of power but my wife likes the horses and I'd like to see her get over some of those hills with ease while pulling her horse trailer. Course the extra little bit of fuel mileage sure sounds nice. Thanks
Not speaking from personal experience here, but just from what I've learned since joining this site.
1) Turbo back exhaust (this will lower exhaust temps which is important for pulling around the horse trailer)
2) Atleast a Pyro gauge
3) Tymar intake
These will give you som hp and torque gains as well as maintaining lower EGT's. Wait a little while, save up some more jingle in the meantime, then get yourself a nice chip.
To save money, I strongly suggest that you install the pyrometer yourself. It is a simple job that you will be happy you did it yourself instead of paying someone
Ok now that y'all have given me a headache lol I'll talk to my Diesel man and see what we can do for the money. I may even consider doing some of this myself to save some cash. I can work on it when I have to but dont know all the goodies to stick under the hood to make it go go go! Thanks guys!
My Diesel man said that he was not aware the dt444e and the 466 could be interchanged without some major modifications. He said to find out how this is possible and he will surely add it to his list of PSD mods list.
