best heads?

I'm sure this has been asked and answered here a lot before so please bear with me. Will cleveland heads work on a 80 351m the heads i'm looking at are off an 70 model if they will will there be much of an improvement in torque or horse power or should i just redo the 351m heads i'm rebuilding the 351m right now will be 30 over rv cam ,aluminum intake, ect.

Thanks Dave

If they're 2V heads then you're looking at potentially a little improvement based on the exhaust port configuration of the earlier Cleveland heads.

Now it they're 4V then it's a whole different ballgame.

Both 2V and 4V are direct bolt ons. No modification to the block is necessary.

A 400 crank and some cheap pistons would do more for you vs the heads, IMO. You have investigated this, right?

I think the early heads are thinner. I have had water seepage from the head gasket under 1971 351C and 400 heads on my 351C. Also two have cracked. Block has been decked and heads have been surfaced. I now have a 1978 351M head on one side and no water seepage on that side. That head does have the large lump around the exhaust guide but I don't know how much it effects the flow.
