1. Not usually...no. If you go with the performer manifold and keep the 600cfm carb...it shouldn't affect it. However, if you go with a very large carb (750cfm+) and a manifold like the Edelbrock rpm it could change from 8 degrees to say 10 or 12+. It is always recommended to re-check and tune the engine after any upgrade modifications that involve cam, intake, carb, etc. Better to be safe than not getting the best results. Also, if you are going to change the manifold you might as well change the cam. Just a suggestion...
2. I use a 14x3 and works great. I wouldn't think a 14x6 would be an improvement. Remember, it's only a 600cfm carb...not a 1000cfm.
