How does one gut out a catelic converter? i tried a crobar etc and acomplished nothing but flatten the inside little squares?

I did that and it don't work hamered on crobar with 5 lb hammer 3 hours and only went in 3 to 4 inches = another foot to go. that don't work.

why would you want to gut it? why not just put a piece of pipe in it's place?

My '02 has a cat. I believe all of of the manual 7.3's have them (99 and up), but the autos don't.
