'72 Ford F-100 360 at. I want to install an aftermarket ammeter in my truck. Whats the correct way to wire it? Between the alt and battery If it matters I'm using a regulator for a '79 (4-terminals, non-adjustable electronic type). TIA!!

I probably should use a voltmeter but I just happen to have a nice VDO ammeter. I agree an ammeter can be a fire risk- especially if poorly wired and installed. But, I will be using a circuit breaker. Plus the wiring is only 32 years old- no fire risk there (I do plan to rewire sometime this year.)
