My power locks gave out last night. Its a '02 F150 Supercab with 5.4 V8. I checked the fuse (#8) and it is good. I have an aftermarket alarm that is tapped in to the factory keyless entry (professional install) so that I can use both the factory remote and the aftermarket remote to lock/unlock doors. Now neither of the remotes open the doors, but the rest of the alarm functions still work. I thought it might be a problem in the alarm, but according to the manual ther is only on fuse in the alarm wiring and if it was blown the alarm shouldn't work at all, but the factory keyless entry should still work. Any ideas? I haven't checked the fuses under the hood? Is there one that controls the power locks under the hood?
Yep, blown fuse #8 under hood fuse box. I wonder if the curcuit is being over loaded, because my alarm locks the doors when I turn on the truck and then the factory system locks again when I put it in drive. I think I will delete the factory door lock, just in case.
I have a '91 F-150 and the power locks work sporadically...would that be related to a fuse problem or faulty wiring? If it's fuse related, where under the hood might the fuses be?
Your 91' is a different design, but the underhood fuses should be on the driver's side toward the back of the firewall. Its a black box, just open it up and there should be a diagram under the lid that tell you what fuse is which. With a blown fuse your locks would not work at all, so thats probably not the problem. Maybe a bad switch or loose connection? Good luck
