hello, newbie here, just posted some pics of my '66; does anyone know what the connection between the battery and stater solonoid is, and if so where I can get one? Mine has long since crumble away leaving only the rust metal connection. Should mention I think this a great site with lots of helpful info!!
Not 100%, but I think there is a junction point for the alt. output and ammeter gauge wire. I know there are more wires than that, but all I can remem. Might be horn power also.
You should have power coming from the battery to the "S" position on the solenoid. Also on the "S" position you should have a wire (on my 65 it's yellow) that goes to a two wire plug and from there to the alternator regulator. You should also have another wire ( black on my 65 ) that goes to a junction block that connects to the ammenter and ignition switch.
You should be able to find some 16 gauge red wire at the auto store that you can use to go from + batt to the "S" on the solenoid.
blu-ford-100;
Are you talking about the battery type wire running from the starter relay to the starter?
If so I believe a 24" starter cable will reach your connect from relay on fender wall to starter.
On my 66 the hot cable from the battery goes on the post closest to the battery, their is also a larger gauge black wire that goes onto this post and into wiring harness. The small post closest to the battery has a black wire also going into the harness. The other small post has a red and black striped wire that apparently goes to the ignition switch. Cable to starter is connected to the other large post. Hope this helps, Jim .My local Naapa store has carries the solenoid.

I think the opriginal question was about replacing the post or the junction point. Mine is all rusted, too. What's it called? Can I go to an auto parts for a replacement?
thanx for the replies, I'm out of town at the moment but will try to take a picture of the problem area, I think Isendel is on the right track , i have replaced the solenoid,and the truck runs fine. The problem is this " stand off" is loose and taped to the battery box and I'm afraid it may short out if it completely breaks or say hits another electrical connection. I would really like to replace it if someone knows were I can get one. thanx again for all the help.
My wiring diagram shows some sort of 70 amp breaker that was found in some trucks. Looks like it went between the battery and the solenoid. I don't have one. Maybe blu_ford does?
The solenoid can be purchased at any auto parts store for that. It will just be held in place to the inner fender with two screws. The big lug ends are for battery and starter.
