Please help - tranny/clutch
On my 1991 Ranger (2.9L Super Cab), lately it's been having a weird problem. Once in a while, it will refuse to shift into any gear from neutral. This happened at a car dealership, and one of the salesmen said he thought it was synchros. If this were true, wouldnt it still be able to shift, but by doubleclutching? My truck has 135,000 miles and the clutch has never been replaced or worked on. It could be that my clutch just isn't disconnecting my engine from the tranny when I press it in. I think the clutch problem is more likely, but I don't know a whole lot about cars/trucks. Any comments are appreciated.

Its time for a new clutch. try this if you can get it into a gear(turn off and place into 3rd gear) restart and push e-brake take truck to 2000 rpm let clutch out slow if it stalls the clutch is good if it continues to run then clutch for sure.
