People think nothing of putting a Chevy V8 in anything, but if it gets turned around, or is made fun of, it just about causes a riot. I was at car show once and there was the usual 32 vickies and 56 F100's with SB Chevy's(it's easier to get a Chevy to fit, so there's a reason) and there was a cherry 40 Ford coupe that had a EFI 5.0 HO in it. It had a Bow Tie logo with a circle slash though it on the upper intake. It was pretty darn funny. You would not believe how insensed so many people were over this. It's like the small chevy is some kind of sacred cow in American culture.

It's gonna have to be done........put a Ford in a Chevy. Come to think of it, I like the 67-72 Chevys some, I think a 351 would look great in one of them.

If there was the nicest ride I had ever seen sitting there, and someone opened the hood and it had a chevy engine, I'd probably puke on them and just turn and walk away. I don't believe in crossing anything. I understand money restraints, like if you have a Chevy engine and can't afford a Ford engine why you would have to put that in there, but if you're building a car, you should keep it at least believable.

MW95F250, you are right, it has to be done, just so people know how it feels. What we need is a 351w in a cherry 68 Camaro SS. Then, we'd take that baby to shows. (OMG, I just called a Chevrolet `baby`, yuk!)

Back in my overly enthusiastic "lets try it" days we put a 351C in a '70 Javelin (an honorable idea but difficult reality), a 289 in a Volvo P1800 (along with a C-4, very expensive custom 9" and radiators galore), and a 396 in a Henry J. By the time we finished with that one the only thing stock was the roof. Point being anyone so inclined is going to scratch their chin and wonder "what would happen if....". The guys in the '30s and '40s Fords with the CSBs are looking for cheap, easy h.p.. The domain of Chevy until Ford started taking the 302 in the Mustang seriously in the early '80s. Their car, their choice. As the saying goes, there are those that show and those that go!

I am sure glad Ford got away from that after a few years(in the 50`s) , I didn`t like the rear distributor on the 292 V8. Lots better at the front of the engine where it belongs.

How many times have you heard a Ford guy say.... "Well, I just can't get the valves to quit rattling in that new motor, I guess I'm going to have to pull the valve covers and re-adjust them." NOT, that has to be the biggest pain in the neck with a gm motor. I remember a friend of mine that was a gm guy helping me assemble a 390 I was working on. When it came time to put on the rocker arm bars he was dumb founded... all he could say was "that's it?" Poor guy was all set up to feel around and jiggle push rods and tighten the extra half turn and hope you got it right or you'll be doing it again... I hated to dissapoint him so bad. But he had to help me put that 250 lb cast iron intake on the motor right before that... I guess he was right then when he said "you wouldn't have this problem if it was a chevy" but he shut up pretty quick after that.

Funny I have never had that problem. But like I said before I grew up working on SBC so I have little trouble working on them. You happen to have worked on Fords so it would be easier to work on them.

Now for the distributer on the front or the back I guess I really dont care one way or another. All you have to do is set it once and then you dont have to play with it again. I always liked the fact that the Chevs have them in the back because one I set it I dont have to touch it again and in the back its out of the way.

Well you have to equal the playing field. Basically, revenge for Fords with Chevy engines in them.

Everytime I see or hear someone bash the 6.2L chevy diesel, I HAVE TO ride to its rescue.

I own a suburban with said motor in it, lack of power in general, ya I admit that. but it does get the job done, it towed my truck home when I bought it (I was embarrased flatbedding a ford behind a chevy as Im a ford guy) and did fine.....5k pound truck, 2k pound trailer, and the burb weighs 6k...total 13k didnt even bat an eye....its slow, but its slow empty or towing 5000 pounds, it dont care. It also has 230,000 miles on it, and runs like a top, everytime as much as I hate chevy, I love my suburban, and I love my 6.2
