tires

Hello everybody, I have a 2k1 250 SD XLT. I have a 3" lift and am thinking about bigger tires. I have the 265's right now an am thinking about either the 305's, which are like a 33-12.50-16, or the 315's, which are like a 35-12.50. I would like to stay with the stock wheels. Does anybody know how much they will stick out the fender wells on the stock rims? I don't haul maxed out at all, so I was thinking of the Pro Comp All Terrains. Would like any feedback before I shell out for them. Thanks.

My buddy just stuck some 305/70-16 Procomp AT on his 00 F250 SDSC4WD. His truck is stock height with stock 16x7 wheels and the tires just come to the edge of the wheelwell. They fit nice and look great. He had low miles on his stock General A/Ts, but when we pulled out of the tire store lot, OH MAN what a difference, they ride and handle better.

My other friend has a lifted 00 Tundra with the same tires mounted on a 16x8 wheel. He has just over 20,000 miles(mainly hiway) on them so far and they look great, nice even wear and he has told me that wet traction is great.

I have a 00 F250 SDCC4WD and I just ordered a 4" Procomp lift, 315/75/16 Procomp M/Ts and 16x10 wheels. Procomp and the tireshop recommended an 8-10" wheel. If you run a narrow wheel, you arch the tread area that connects with the road and cornering stability is less than with a wider wheel. I have run 35x12.50s on another truck before, first with an 8" wheel and next with a 10" wheel. I'm an aggressive driver so I like the 10s with 35s.

You just need to figure out what you want to do with your truck and how you want it to perform. There are pros and cons either way. Wider pros-more road/trail contact, better stability; cons-more stress on drivetrain, bearings and steering components, usually need fender flares. Narrow pros-better mud traction, tighter trail driving, fits in stock wheelwell; cons- as described above.

I have another friend with a 99 F350 SDCC he has 35s on a 8" wheel and his just stick out of the wheelwells. By the way I ordered Bushwacker OEM style street flares.

P.S. Procomp is having a buy 3 get 1 free deal right now that ends 6/30/01.

Good Luck, Die Hard FORDMAN

Hey Wildthang thanks for the information. I mainly use the truck for the street, so off road tration is'nt as important as on road characteristics, and mileage. I also like the fact that the tires would stay mostly inside the fender wells, i've had wide tires sticking out before and it just tears up the paint and body out here in the country where I live. Is the buy 3 get one free available only from them or is it also available through their dealer network? Just curious, as their is one not far from me, about 30 miles. Sounds like a good deal if the tires are everything everybody says they are. Thanks again. LOVE MY FORD!!
