Engine Rebuild

I have a 85 f150 with a 4.9 ******* motor computer feedback carb etc. Besides the mysteriouus water film on the dip stick and poor gas milage the truck runs strong and tight. I Dont have the funds like i hoped to do a complete rebuild and ditch the computer. But i have enough to redo the bearings rings and duraspark conversion. So has anyone done a refresh, with what kind of results? Also has anyone ever used P.A.W rebuild kits.

I would hold off for a few more paychecks and get a set of EFI Exhaust manifolds (EBAY$60.00) and a good 390 cfm carb($200.00), With a new intake($150.00 EBAY) and maybe a mild cam and valve springs($150.00 EBAY)...That will really wake it up, and it will not be that much more $$$$$..You will be much happier with the results......

Ouch man! I know why they are charging that much though! The big six is a pain to work on, especially the FI version. I just ripped everything but the block apart on mine and lemme tell ya it's no fun! 2 day after all that work and my arms are still sore...
