Oh yeah, they do that. It's usually around some of the washes they have along the green belts. The point of the wash is move all the excess water...so they always have to go an point out that since it started to rain, the washes are full of water...lol. And of course, there is always a few idiots who insist on trying to drive through the flooded washes and get stuck. That's why the state now has the "Stupid Motorist Law" that requires you to pay the bill for getting your car out of flooded washes. They also go out to some of the parking lots that flood and show those, or they turn how they pump water out of the flooded parking lots into a story.
Funny, I never thought folks would react to rain the way people here in Alabama do to snow.
It gets to be a joke at times. Just the mention of snow and folks get all goofy. It really is a joke. It is embarassing. The news will go and show all the city trucks loading up with sand "in case they are needed". And then, when they are not needed, the local news will have somebody on the scene (where it DIDN'T snow), to report that it didn't snow and the trucks weren't needed.
If it did snow, they have some video of it snowing, so that we can watch the news and know that the reason there is white stuff on the ground outside, is because it snowed!
Bunch of goofballs.......
I've been in Alabama when it snowed. I was driving back from Florida and there was maybe 1 inch of snow on the interstate and it was gently snowing. Anyway, I'm driving slow due to the snow (55-60 MPH) when I see flashing lights and think there is an accident. It is a state trooper forcing everyone into a rest area because the highway is closed due to the snow. Keep in mind I was driving 55 and NEVER even lost traction once! I explained to the trooper that I was from up north and frequently drove in much more snow than this hoping he would allow me to pass. No dice! We sat in a rest area for 5 hours waiting for a plow (probably imported from up north!) By then it had quit snowing and most had melted. In the 5 hours I sat there I could have been into Illinois and almost home!
By the way, my condolences to those in the great Arizona rain and wind storm of '04. I hope the chair recovers!
Holy crap what a storm! I saw it on TV, I was moving (moving sucks more each day). I saw the storm go by and hit Sun City, I never had to use my wipers. I did have to turn on the AC in the T bird today though, it hit 92 degrees today, summer is coming back quick.k
