I agree on the sub club. Anyone who drives a truck this big is in a league of their own. The salesman didn't even attempt to move my truck from the lot, said you have more experience driving this kind of truck than I do.
I've seen other forums where guys claimed to have pulled 24' campers with ease. If so, that's probably the limit. I heard that the heavy duty package includes a stronger transmission. True? I don't know. I guess I don't know much for sure except that I work my truck really hard, pulling a landscape trailer with heavy loads, and it never complains.
7000# is a good sized boat. I know my 20' Mastercraft weighs about #3500 plus another #1300 for the trailer. For a 7000# boat, the trailer is probably at least 2K#, so you're looking at 9000+#. I think the 4x2 reg. cab. with the HD package is rated for 9,900#. Not much room for error. I would seriously consider the Super Duty.
I've never heard of the HD but I noticed after I purchased my reg short box w/ 7050 tow package, that all the heavy load ratings are with a 8' box. Up to 9900 lbs.
