You need to pull out the instrument cluster. A basic manual should tell you how to do this, I would change all the bulbs so you don't have to do it again for a while. I don't recall all the details but you remove the ash tray, remove the trim, with an auto the gear indicator has to be removed, the cluster screws, the electical connectors and the speedometer cable. The speedometer cable is tricky, there is a little tab that you have to press just right.

that is the only lame thing about the bronco ii or the ranger, lol, i had to take apart the whole face and dash to get the instrument cluster out, so just take off the face(beauty plate), then take out the cluster, beware the electronics, wires and speed cable. take it out, and the bulbs are a snap to replace, twist pull, incert, twist, done i would also reccoment going to a junk yard and getting bulbs there, they mgith only cost like 10cents and they could burn out, but, you get the pre experience of disasembling the pannel first, this will save you time, and possibly replacing other parts. i would also like to say, take the chance to clean the cluster while you have it out, cause you will realize this after you put back in, and not even want to try to take it back out.
