Lls???

I have a 2000 Expy EB 2WD. when I turn the key on, I hear a loud gurggle sound and a vibration. I think its the compressor, how loud are they suppose to be? but after it stops I get no lift in the rear. I measured it before and after.

They're pretty loud, do a search on supsension and you'll find alot of threads on the lls. There is one somewhere that talks about fixing the common problems like compressors.

The gurgling and vibration you describe sounds like LLS to me. My LLS kicks in (when it's working) when I start the truck, but doesn't necessarily make for any discernable change in the trucks' height. I'm guessing that the system also senses the pressure in the lines and charges accordingly. The only time I've actually seen it raise up is when I shift into 4LOW. It takes about a minute but the whole truck lifts up about 2 inches or so.

The compressor is attached to a mounting plate with rubber bushings. The rubber deteriorates and the bushings begin to fail which makes the compressor 'buzz' louder than usual due to metal on metal contact between the compressor and the mounting plate. Do a search as mentioned above - theres lots of info on the many problems folks have had with LLS.

Thanks alot everyone... I ended up taking it to a dealer. I was told that the compressor was bad, due to a leak in one of the lines. they wanted $600. + I had them just fix the leak in the line that was $170. it's self. I was thinking that I could change out the compressor myself. does anyone know where i can get one? I was thinking maybe a salvage yard. Or do they have after market compresors? any help would be appreciated. By the way I am new her, and so far love this forum. am Dan from phoenix, Az. Ihave a 200 Expy EB 2WD, and a 2003 Ranger Edge.
