I just did a code read on my '93 F-150 5.0 5spd 4X4 looking for an answer to my rough acceleration problem (earlier post today) and now I have no courtesy lights, radio, speedo or odometer. What did I do wrong? Is there a fuse or relay that controls these items? If so where is it? I used the under the hood light for the power supply for the code read test. I have done this before and have had no problems with it. Please help.
I believe I did it myself when I pulled the hot wire for the engine hood light to use for the test. It may have shorted against the ground wire for the light. Dome light/ speedo are fine now but I still have a poor running engine. I will replace the fuel filter next as I seem to have low fuel pressure (30 psi max) even though the pump is new(front tank) and the regulator was changed in a recall 1 1/2 years ago . It also runs poorly no matter which tank I use. I am sure it is a fuel problem but it may be ignition. The ditributor is dry inside, no condensation. The truck kicks and bucks under acceleration, not a steady miss but an itermittent miss, sort of like it has water in the fuel. but I use a tank in three days so the fuel is always fresh. Any thoughts on this?
I have a very similar problem with my F-150. It feels like water is in my tank ( which is very probable ) and my truck will studder off and on, especially when in a higher gear than neccesary.
well today I went and did a pressure check to see if it was either pump or the regulator that were the cause. What I found was that both pumps have the same pressure and crimping the return line did not increase the pressure so I either have a restriction some where in the fuel lines or the filter needs changing. I will have to wait 'till tomorrow to get a new one to eliminate that possibility.
well first you need not to use your light. i know that oriellys has a system where you can rent a code reader and plug it into your diagnostic port and do it right and not blow anything. as far as your speed and odometer it is just a fuse. mine blows every now and then. ona 95 a 25 amp will last a while
