Unhappy Window washer question

I have a 1960 F100 with the added washer kit, on the foot pump there are 2 wires attached to a small soleniod, does anyone have any idea where the connect to and what it does?? I am thinking it attaches to power and wiper switch so if fot pump is pressed it will wipe the window once??

Thanks for any help

Kenny-

I was looking at your gallery in the hidden 2 folder and saw the window washer system, I have that system in my truck but have no idea on where the wiring goes or does from the foot pump solenoid, do you have any info or wiring diagrams on that??

Thanks

Hi Glack,

I owe you an apology.
When I saw your first post, I started looking into it, and then I got sidetracked. I honestly meant to get back into it, but it completely slipped my mind, sorry.

Okay, I've since checked my parts and accessories catalog, shop manual, brochures, etc. There's no mention or pictures of wires anywhere for the foot pump.

The correct foot pump should be a mechanically operated pump, so I can't imagine why there would be any wires?

Are you sure they sent the right pump for '57-'60? Can you maybe take a picture of it, so we can check it out?

Thanks!

Kenny, it was in the truck.

I was pulling it out to prep truck for bodywork/ motor/ paint/ possibly get rid of the whole setup and goto a newer plastic tank and electric motor or just get rid of, it is a mechanical setup-the footpump that presses the air bladder but has the electric solenoid on the top of the assembly with 2 wires attached to it, one was yellow and is crimped with another yellow and plugged into the fuse box, I have'nt traced out the other wire yet..Think its red?? but my thinking is it triggers the wipers for a wipe or 2 when the pump is pressed??

thanks for looking into it, I am going to have to hook the yellow wire back up and see what the heck its all about

I had a 67 mustang and it had the same pump with a plug and wires attached to the pump. It was somehow hooked to the wipers and they went on when the pedal was pumped. Could this possible be the same setup?
