I've got a 2000 F-250 SD 5.4L EXT CAB Longbed. I can not find the "axle code" on the placecard on the door jam. It is blank. I suppose I'll have to get with Ford to figure it out. I don't know what ratio my rear end is. My friend has 2001 F-350 Powerstroke and the axle code is right where it should be.
Try looking for a metal tag on the rear diff. Look for something like 373 or 3L73. The L would mean you have a 3.73 limited slip. I haven't looked in a while but I think it's something like this.
Good Luck,
Rob

Are you the original owner?
I had a leaky axle seal and when the mechanic replaced it (twice - not such a good mechanic) he figured I didn't need the ID plate on the differential afterall. My Ford dealer was very considerate and patient. They were able to trace back to the assembly line and give me the ratio.
