Not that this adds any thing, but the filter kicked my *** for about 30 min. too. I have the 15 sided filter wrench and it just refused to work.. ..untill I wrapped the filter flutes with two passes of masking tape and a shop towel. I then tapped the filter wrench on.. ..not too hard! There are breakables all around. Even then, with good bite, I damn near ruptured my spleen getting that thing off! Felt good once it was done. I really like the spill diverter over the chassis too. Nice touch Ford.

After fighting, swearing, blooding knuckles, and cutting my forearms on the fan blades that SOB came off. To help a little I removed the air intake shroud and that gave me a little more leverage.

The screwdriver trick does indeed usually work although it can be quite messy. I found a "ratcheting" type of filter wrench in a parts store that works really well, too.

Seven quarts? You might want to drain out couple. I think it takes 6.5 with a filter.
