two dead cylinders

i,ve got a 351 taht the #6 and #8 cyl are dead when you hit the throttle there is pressure coming up out of the carb. hooked a vacuum guage up and it bounces radicly from 2" to 16" while at idle. I'm thinking valve guides, give me your opinion

Mine was doing something similar, turned out to being a badly worn cam lobe, and lifter. That was on a 302
