I'm trying to remove the spindle on a 79 F250 4x4 D44.ANd by the fsm it shows that it comes off after 5 nuts are removed. But it does not ...I'm not sure if it's rusted together of what.any iideas on how to remove it....any help would be great.
They get rusted on there pretty good sometimes. You might have to very carefully beat it off with a mallet.
Be very careful that you do not ding the threads or the surface of the spindle. You may want to put the spindle nut or nuts back on to protect the threads.
Work it side to side then up and down - it will eventually come off.
When you re-install it put anti-seize on all surfaces between the spindle and knuckle to make the next time easier.
I've found setting a block of 4x4 on top of the spindle and wacking it with a small sledge usually breaks it free. If not, set a 4x4 up under the spindle and slowly set the truck down on the jack. This will break the bottom side free so you can jack it back up and knock the top free.
I thought i was crazy because all i saw was 5 Bolts....but i did what you guys said and used a brass hammer to bet the ever living snot out of it and it came off.
