Trailer whee alignment

My 32' fiver is chewing up the tires on the rear axle. They are cupping etc. The shocks are still good. I'm looking for a shop in northern CA to realign things. No one in my local area, Santa Rosa, CA, does alignments on trailers. I have not checked with Camping World yet. I'll stop in there today.

If anyone has a source any where in the western US I'd appreciate hearing about it. We'll be on the road a good deal of time in the next 6 months and would travel a few hundred miles to get the alignment done.

Thanks for the help

You can see if your trailer needs an alignment by first making sure the axles are centered, to this by rolling the trailer to a stop on level ground, don't use brakes to stop it, then measure with a straight edge against the side of the tire to the frame, it should be the same on both sides, if not loosen your u'bolts and knock it over into alignment. Then measure from your hitch or a center point in the front of the trailer to the center bolt on the spring pad (where the bolt is that holds all the springs in alignment. Then measure both axles center to center bolt to check their alignment. And thats all that is required.

If your wheels are fairly perpendicular to the ground, say within 10 degrees you should be alright. However if one side is bent you will have to get another axles. You could also check wheel bearing and your tires for proper balance.

Thanks to both of you for your help. My AutoMate has air bag suspension and is way too complex for me to tackle on my own. I watched them bolt one of these axel/suspension systems together. The impact wrench they used was a monster!. I don't think there is any way I could get the nuts loose on my own.

Woodland is a couple of hours from me so I think my best option is to give Bee Line Service a call and pay to have the job done.

Thanks again to both of you for your help.

Smooth roads and pleasant traveling to all.
