What is this?
My neighbor has an F350 Super Duty Dually with a Ford 10.25 12 bolt rear axle. We were changing the outer seals and fluid and noticed that there is a sprocket looking thing mounted on the back side of the ring gear. It almost looks like a smaller version of a flexplate that goes between the engine and transmission. We looked at it with a flashlight but couldn't find anywhere the gears that met another gear. Anyone know what this is for?
