Wife wants Excursion
I'm a giant fan of diesel engines as long as theres pleny of warranty. I know how much a mechanic costs.
Can you all give me some reason why I should buy, and some reason why I wouldnt want to buy an Excursion.
It would be a daily driver(fuel prices) hauling a couple kids and a few dogs.
thanks

I've had a lot of different cars. I've had expensive ones and cheap ones. I went looking for an Expedition and got to the dealer and saw the X and had to drive it. I took it out and fell in love. I went looking for used. Since not many people want to buy such a big truck they slash the price big time. My 2000 X Limited V10 gas new would have been 55k and up. I got mine for 21k. That’s a big saving. I don't think I've ever driven a greater vehicle. On the highway I feel I'm driving from my living room sofa. Space like you can't believe. First week I bought it got bunk beds in there 2 mattresses stopped at the grocery store and did a full shopping and stopped for a couple cases of beer. My son and wife still had room to move. And I didn't use the roof racks. Come one talk about room.
Only issues I see are the rides a bit rough in the city. But then again I live in Boston. If you follow the forum people have posted that changing the shock and tires will soften the ride. But I think in the new X they have Rancho shocks on them already which helps.
If you’re worried about gas mileage it's not for you. 11 mpg downhill with the wind pushing if you’re lucky. I personal don't care about gas mileage, didn't buy it for the not so great mpg.
Now this may only be because I live in Boston. But parking is a bear. But I like the exercise I get at the mall from having to park far away.
People around here frown when they see such a big truck and tell me why do you need such a big truck. This winter as I was plowing though the first big store I heard a wife say to her husband walking” what the heck was that”. I was laughing. I wanted to stop and say it’s the King Of Suvs. hahaha
Other then those small issues it's a GREAT truck. My wife loves it and loves driving it. Ok people look at here weird and “ask you can drive something that big”. My wife laughs and walks away in her business suit and high heel shoes and says Yup no problem.
All that being said. I would say if you want and can afford new go for it. You'll love it. Get the extended warranty if you plan on keeping it for a while. Make sure they don't sell you an aftermarket warranty. They suck. If you want more info let me know about warranty issues. Having the warranty help cause there are issues with the door locks working. Now I’ve seen it posted a few times on here that others have as well. But now this might not be an issue with the new one.
Hope this helps-sorry so long. Now others chime in and correct any info that might not be 100% accurate on my part. Peppy keep reading this site before you run out and buy it. You’ll get all the answers you need. I did for a while before I bought mine and now I have no regrets thanks to all the great info people post up here.
Thanks everyone.

How's the ride on your 2004. Have you even driven a 2000 or 2001. If so how does the ride compare?
