have a 6cd mp3 player in my 04 ranger .. also have 2 10 in subs and 2 12 in and a couple of amps in my basement ..and yes i have the extended cab ) anyway the stock radio has no rca's for the amps i dont want to put my other headunit in because its beat and doesnt get reception to well; plus it only holds 1 cd. how can i get the amps to work off the stock headunit
You want something called a line converter, it taps off one of your speakers, and spits out an RCA plug on the other end. Cost is between 20 and 30 bucks, and should be available at Wally World. Only downside is, they don't always work well, but since you're gonna run a sub off of it, then sound quality isn't really an issue...
If I'm not mistaken, the stock deck should have a plug for a factory amp, if not already installed. You may be able to find the wiring harness for that and then use the line converter Rancha is talking about, or possible find a factory amp to hook up to it.
maticuno, I've heard of doing that, and I can remember hearing about like one person that actually got it to work. I think it'd probably just be easier to tap off the speaker connection. It doesn't change the way that speaker sounds, in case you're wondering. That line converter runs on like 1-2 watts, so you'll never miss it. I just looked on e-bay for you and found them from anywhere from $4 to $25, plus shipping... Just search "line converter" in car audio.
well whenever you are in your truck, you probably have the radio on, so youjust run it from the accessory wire that runs to the radio. That way, whenever the switch is on, the amp is on.
