Getting the overhead console mounting figured out.
Putting the stainless steel hose covers on.
fiberglassing some stuff.
Just in general messing around.
I get in the truck to go get some parts. I look at the windshield and there is a 12" crack in the windshield.
I talked to the wife and on her way home from Tulsa a truck kicked up a rock. She didn't think it did anything. But it hit between the wipers and the seal.
Now I have to get that replaced. I figured it would be very high but a windshield shop I went to said $150. When I first bought the truck in 98 I hit a deer. It cracked the windshield. In 98 the same windshield was $1500. Talk about a difference.
So..I may not make it next weekend to the meet in KC. I don't think I can get it fixed by then and knowing my luck another rock would hit it and it would shatter.
That sucks. Atleast the windshield price is reasonable. Look on the bright side. The meeting is two weeks away so you should be able to make it. I've never met a legend before and have been looking forward to meeting you! lol
The biggest magnet in the world is a new windshield and no insurance. Even with insurance, it's a given that a rock is going to nail the new one. I wouldn't worry about the old one.
That sucks Jon. I had something similiar happen on my last truck. I was driving to work one day and a rock was kicked up and cracked my windshield. Had it replaced the next day and on my way to work the next day my passenger window just shattered. Scared the living hell out of me. Couldnt believe my bad luck. Luckly I had good insurance so it didnt cost me a dime. The glass guy couldnt believe my luck though.
Jon you have to come to the GTG especially since I will be there. I know you are dying to meet the biggest Chiefs Fan there is.
The 97 f150 I owned had a few chips in the windshield but none of them ever cracked. Had a big semi in front of me kick up a piece of tire that hit the glass right in front of my face.Scared the crap out of me. I watched it bounce on the road but there was nothing I could do cuz I was towing a friends GMC Gimmy on the trailer.
I replaced the windshield about 9 months ago........when I traded the 97 in and got my 03 F150. Thats pretty bad when you buy a new truck just to replace the windshield in the old one.
