Hi,
I recently bought a 1997 f-150 xlt f-150 with the 4.6L motor.
The power mirror switch only works in two directions on both sides?
If I was to replace the switch,How do I get it out? Also do I need to go to the ford dealer for this part? Thanks
Switch pops out with a little force and it will probally be an oem. However, check local salvage yard. I bought window replacement buttons at one for pennys on the dollar compared to new ones.
I had the same problem and it was an easy fix once I bought the new switch from Ford. I don't remember the cost but I would recommend going with the OEM part.
It is actually super easy (and cheap) to replace - at least for my 2002 F-150. You can pop the old switch out with a flat blade screwdriver and then just disconnect the wiring plug. A new switch was about $20 at my local dealer. Just plug the new switch in, pop it in to place and you are good to go.
