Problems with 03 stroker
She leaves for a 6000 km trip in less than 2 weeks and the dealer still can't find a problem. Any comments please.
"First i noticed no power, then a funny whoofing noice when i would let off the gas, it started to buck & fart, would smoke. That was when the injector went, then an exhaust leak terrible diesel smell inside cab, then egr error on the computor, now they think it's the turbo charger. The truck has absolutely no power, when you accelerate it has a terrible hesitation, but it does not have that throw your head back power it used to."
The dealer keeps getting EGR codes and have replaced
Not that easy to take to another dealer, lives in the interior of BC, 70 miles to the next town with a dealer. Not very convienent.
My truck has a build date of Mar 03. I have 18K miles and the last 13K of those have been nothing but headaches. The more times this thing has been reprogrammed the more chain reactions I have.
The condition you describe is very similar to what happened to my truck at 11,000 miles. Sounded like I had pilot injection at idle, even though it had been flashed away in Oct. Turbo would wind up and spool down intermittently in a cyclical manner causing an increase and decrease in engine noise. Long story short after 5 trips to dealer had the black box installed and gathered data during 3 such events. Ford area service rep trouble shot it in one day and they fixed it. It has been perfect for 9,000 additional miles. There are 3 atmospheric sensors that regulate the VGT on the turbo. When the key is on and engine not running these sensors should be within .1 volt (I think) of each other. Mine had a difference of almost 1 volt on one sensor. The dealership had seen the difference on a previos visit and thought the spec was 1 volt vice the .1 vold DOH!!!
I would suggest that you have the data recorder installed and go from there.
