the registration and DMV tellme this is a 1969.

the engine code "Y" says this is a V8-360 engine. but a Chiltons guide says that the V8-360 was not offered until 1970.

what do you think I have?

That must be an error in the Chilton guide because the 360 was first offered in 68.

Yep,

"Y" engine code for 68 is the 360.
same for 69, however, in 67, Y was for the 352.
Looks like yours originally came with the 360.
