Help! I can't find the plug.

I just got a cheap code reader off of e-bay for my 1987 F-150 4X4 and I can't find the plug to check the codes??? I know where it is on both my cars, but I can't find it in the truck. The book says it could be inside or outside on the driver's side or the passenger's side, by the firewall or by the grill etc....... Basically it could be anywhere.
Please help me before I go crazy!!!

Under the hood, Drivers side, back by the fire wall. Small D shaped connector.

SHould also be duplicated underneath the dash on the driver's side of the ash tray area as well, tucked underneath.

Both connectors are in parallel, use whichever one is more convienent.
