Starting problem and hello :-)
If this problem has been asked before...forgive my repetion....I did search for answers but I didn't see exactly what I needed.
I have a 94 F-150 XLT (I love her!) but it the last few weeks has started to have starting problems after it gets warmed up.
It just clicks once and thats it. I thought it might be the relay...so I put on a new one. Still same problem...actually seems to be getting worse...meaning it had to warm up alot before, a long drive before the problem would reoccur...now it only takes a short drive to the corner mart and if I shut it off...no start.
What should I check? I thought about replacing the starting thinking it could be the soloneniod but I don't have much money right now so I want to get it right.
How do I check the cables with a voltmeter? What should the voltage be at the starter....how much of a drop (assuming cable corrosion?) would cause a problem?
Any and all suggestions appreciated.
Thanks all.

P.S. Excuse any mistyping....I've been at work all night and just got home

The first couple of times it wouldn't start it acted like a dead battery - just barely turned over. But started right up after it had cooled down.
I would put a new starter on...
I read you post...went out and pulled and I'm waiting right now for the autopart store to have one delivered from a larger town (i live in a small town and it wasn't in stock).... it should be here in an hour or two and I'll post the results after I put it on.
Thanks again.
Come back again when you need advice!
Yeah...my core starter didn't look all that bad but it tested awful.
See ya soon!
