Is this worth looking at for a 2wd 67-72 Truck? Is it any larger than stock? What makes it a performance pan? I know the selection of improved pans is very limited for the trucks. Most of the after market upgrade pans won't fit.
Don't know, looks like the one in my truck (stock).
Maybe it's being pushed as a "hi-po" because it's a 6 qt setup instead of a 5 qt setup. (cars are a 5qt, right?)
Fagh, hipo my fanny. Look at Canton. The one I'm running is a 6qt, and comes with trapdoor baffles to keep the oil at the pickup at any angle or degree of acceleration, plus a full bolt in windage tray AND crank scraper. THATS a hipo pan.
That is a stock plain jane pan there Greg. Not even any baffles!
Cars had 5 quart capacities with 1 quart being in the filter and 4 in the pan. I think they were the same pans as the trucks though. Just a different rating.
This is pretty much the same pan I have except mine was bought unchromed and painted blue. See the nice baffle in it? I don't know how effective it is but it has to help a bunch. It won't help too much on the inclines but for a launch at the dragstrip it seems to be great.
I don't think you are wrong. I think canton makes a road race pan for the cobra that will fit. It is widened out at the bottom and not deeper. I think DF knows the pan that will fit.
EDIT: Take a look here Greg. I can't see a reason these wouldn't fit.
