yea, I had to use the one with the kicked out sump, its wider but not deeper. I have a 4x4, but what with the 460 transplant in the 73 my front pan came within a hair of the crossmember too...the front kicked out sump worked good. More volume, waaay better control, and the windage tray and crank scraper are good for a few hp.
I think you will have trouble clearing the crossmember on the pass side with the kickout over there. But I have been wrong before!!!
I have pics of my homebuilt in my gallery if you want to see one solution.
ACES I think the max depth for the 2wd is only 7", maybe 7 1/2" and that would be very close.
I mentioned this in the other thread, but a FT truck pan will work GREAT. Holds like 12 qts and will fit a 2 WD. It is stock depth, but just long( a complete box instead of stepped up like a 6 qt pan).
You should be able to come up with one pretty cheaply. Get the pickup tube also, since it make it reach the rear of pan. Weld a couple baffles to control oil slosh.
Those fancy "new" pans will cost you +$200....if you have a junk yard nearby or find someone on here that has one...it should be CHEAP. Mine I got free from friend, but I dont think you should have more than $50 in pan/pickup tube.
