HELP, Please! I recently bought a 1994 E-150 conversion van and it has been great until today. I tried to start it and it all it does is turn over. The battery is good it has a full tank of gas...... any suggestions? I don't have the money to put it in the shop. I've never really worked on cars before, but I don't have an option right now. Any help to walk me through this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Lisa
I tried the fuel pump reset button, it was not tripped.
I would verify for spark first. It would be a good idea to purchase a cheap spark tester at your local automotive store.
There are two kinds of spark tester that I know of. You disconnect one spark plug wire and connect that spark tester to the spark plug wire and clip the other end of the spark tester (alligator clip) to the engine metal block.
The other spark tester. You have to disconnect the spark plug wire and connect the device to the spark plug wire and reconnect the other end of the spark tester to the spark plug.
On both spark tester, have someone crank the engine and see if there are good sparks.
Also try turning the key to the "on" position and see if you hear the fuel pump turn on. it should run for about a second, then shut off. If you don't hear anything, check the fuse. Let us know what you find.
