gas milage ???

hey there
im just wondering what a reasonable gas milage is for 1980 F-100 300 I6 C-4 3 speed no overdrive auto. (I think thats the problem) I get around 9 to 11 mpg.
Whould a C-6 w/overdrive help.

that sounds pretty low is your choke opening all the way? have you checked float level a 300 w/o od should still get 15-18 if it's set up right in a 1/2 ton

It check the choke, and i'd see if the tailpipe is black. Most of the time you should get at least 14mpg. I did when I had a 1bbl on my truck

not if you have a 4.10 or 4.11 in the axels. 11 is fairly normal if they are geared that way. If not then do full tune,(plugs wires, cap rotor etc) and see what it does.

this is true, but I've never seen a factory 300 truck gear with lower gears than 3.55s, unless it was a HD truck

A freind of mine has an 80 150 4x4 300 4spd. that came from ford that way. It is rare but some were made. Mainly special order.
