engine is loping.

my engine has gone crazy,no wait thats me.at an idle the engine has started to rev up and down.i can`t figure out what`s going on so i thought i would leave it in your able hands to figure out.

sounds like a vacume leak to me carb intake etc spray some wd40 around the base of the carb or at the intake to head area and see if it jobs rpm or stumbles and thats the leak

i sprayed w-d around the intake,but found no leaks.do you have any more suggestions?

yes,the whole engine was rebuilt just a couple hundredmiles ago.it has also started blowing black smoke.it dosent appear to be oily,but i`m no mechanic.

Are you running ethenol fuel. I ha same problem with my fairlane and it was due to the fuel had turned the rubber on the carb powervalve to jelly. The ethenol ate the rubber.
Just a thought.

i think that most of my problem is the carb.i pulled the dipstick today and the oil smelled very strongly of gas.i drained the oil and it was full of it.i ordered a remanufactured carb for 104.00,i`ll let you know if that solves the problem or not.thanks for all your help.
