Question Mustang site?

A buddy at work is looking for info on rebuilding his 68 Mustang and was asking me about info on dropping a 400M in one.
Anyone know of a Mustang enthusiasts?

No such thing as a 400M > it's a 351M / 400

That's a cleveland that is about the same as a 351C.

Without a pile of cutting a welding it won't fit or you have to pull the engine to R&R the plugs.
go to

Sure they had 390's & 428's in there but the Clevo is wider.

the most logical one is a 351 Cleveland, the 400 and 351M are both much bigger motors.

It is possible though, they stuffed a 429 Boss in about a thousand of them.

The Mustang was larger with more engine area in 69 than in 68 .

Whats the biggest engine you could get into a '64 1/2 or a '65 without too much work?

390 I would say.

A better choice would be the 351W or K code 289 though

K code, that sounds fun. What sets those apart from normal 289s? -William

351W is a much better choice for that year. Lots of engines and after market parts designed specificly for that swap. As for the biggest, I know there are some 460s that have been crammed in those years but to do it right requires lots of modifications.

Try www.vintage-mustang.com

Lots of good help, very few (if any) snobs that try to take pop shots at newbies (unless you start talking about putting a chevy engine in a mustang).

The guys at FM (ford muscle) have all the information on any ford car swap you could ever want, this has been discussed on there several times. It can get a bit heated though, and it might take a day for someone to come by and help out, but its worth it.
