That is kind of pricey for my application. Besides the dealer told me anything mechanical under the hood voids the warranty. Something i can't afford to do. That was the reason for the PTO provision.
Question. Is it worth spending the extra money even if you dont use the PTO? Perhaps the trainy is stonger and will last longer?
Yes. Somewhere in these forums was a post from someone that works in the transmission plant. He stated that, even though the order code for the tranny is the same (44E for the 4-speed auto that goes with the gas engines), any auto tranny with the PTO provision has a stronger case and internals. He said it was well worth the option price, especially if you were towing or snow-plowing.
I remember that post, but I think he also said that the stronger parts were only on the 4R100 with PTO. The TorqShift has the good parts in all the transmissions, PTO or not. At least that's what I remember reading...
I'm new to this place so I'm not familiar with some of the goings-on, but I've got a question. I purchase my 03 F-350 PSD crew cab with the power take off option on the torque shift. I can't find any literature on how to access the PTO. I'd like to install a compressor for my beach excursions. The manual says there is a separate book for this option, the dealer says there isn't. Anyone have any information?
Thanks,
****
Depends what model trans and PTO you have. I have a .pdf file of a MUNCIE 4R100 INSTALL MANUAL, but the file is too large to attach. Send me a PM with your email and I will send you the PTO info I have. If you have the 4R100 with a MUNCIE, you'll be in business.
I attemped to attach some info. Basically a brochure with some specs, but it's a start.
