Transmission question

I've got a '94 F150 with ~114000 miles, with a 5-speed. Now that it's getting warmer (I bought the truck in January) I notice what feels like a lot of play in the gears. In 1st especially, if you're not accelerating the truck bucks a lot. Does anyone know what could cause this? or a ball park figure on what it would cost to fix it?
Thanks!

mine does the same thing, you just gotta be gentle with the throttle in first gear and not let off too hard or it bucks like a horse

I suppose the only fix for this is a new tranny?

Yeah, pretty common for the M5ODs mine is currently dying, I can't wait till it does so I can put in a ZF or a T-18 to replace it.

"Bucking", sounds like a chattering clutch more than a problem inside the tranny.

Does anyone know how many miles the M5ODs usually run? and what it could cost to get a rebuilt version, or a possibly better one?
