What is the best pipes for making a 99 Ford Ranger sound good. I am looking at a Y-pipe with no muffler off of the cat or a Flowmaster with a Y-pipe off of the cat. Which would give me better sound?
I think a flowmaster would make the truck way to quiet...do you agree?
What do you define as a better sound? Everyone hears something they like differently. An exhaust system will be louder and raspier. A muffler will give you a lower, deep rumble. What motor does youre ranger have?
Hmm, I dont know what you could do to that motor. I have only heard it sound like one of those fart can cars romping around. Have you asked the guys in the ranger forum, or the 2.5L engine forum? I hope someone else can chime in here, because I dont have any real first hand knowledge of what would sound good one something like that.
My recommendation is, after the catalytic converter, run 2 1/4 inch pipe to a performance muffler of your choice, then run the tailpipe where you want it. No matter the modification, it will sound like a bumble bee on steroids, an unfortunate consequence of a 4 cyl.
I have a 90 Ford Bronco that has a 3" lift right now and it has a 351 w/E4oD. And I have a 99 Ranger, stock. Just trying to figure out which one I want to put money into to lift. The Bronco would be much cheaper, but it has some things that need to be fixed.
